Nurulhusna Qamaruz Zaman

Dr. Nurulhusna Qamaruz Zaman is a senior lecturer in architecture and urban design at Universiti Teknologi MARA and a Malaysian Urban Design Association Council Member. Trained as an architect, she holds a master's degree in urban design and a doctorate in human geography. Her ethnographic research attachments in Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Ipoh City Council, and place-based non-profit organizations exposed her to the challenges of urban design practice in Malaysia. She worked on various urban design research teams for the municipal councils of Shah Alam and Sepang, as well as the Terengganu state government. She was selected to serve on juries for urban design contests both nationally and internationally, including the Privately-Owned-Public-Spaces, POPS-London competition and the National Urban Design Awards. Her interest in urban design ranges from the physical components of the city to the technical processes of placemaking, and she has recently investigated human emotional relationships with the urban environment through emotional geographies and neurourbanism.
