Nurul Syala Abdul Latip

Dr Nurul Syala is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. Was previously a Senior Lecturer in International Islamic University Malaysia. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She obtained a Master of Built Environment (Sustainable Development) from the University of New South Wales, Australia and a PhD (Architecture) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in studies related to Urban Design with the title Contextual Integration in Waterfront Development. She currently holds the post of a Deputy Dean of Academic and Internationalisation, a member of the Islamic Urban Heritage (MICBAH) Research Group and part of the Malaysian Urban Design Association Council Member. Her research focusses on urban design and sustainable urban development based on the Quran and Sunnah. Has been involved in various Urban Design consultancy work such as Urban Guidelines Research in the Department of Town and Country Planning Malaysia, Azlan Malaysia Development Master Plan for Perak, Bako Sarawak Development Master Plan, Heritage Trail Master Plan for Kuala Lumpur, Universal Design Master Plan for Petaling Jaya and was also involved in the Inclusive Campus Guidelines (MyU-OKU) for the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
